No Guarantee A.J. Brown Stays with Eagles in 2026

As the 2026 NFL offseason begins, speculation intensifies around Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown’s status with the team. Amid ongoing frustrations Brown has expressed regarding his role in Philadelphia, many are questioning whether he will remain on the roster. The uncertainty was highlighted during a recent media session at the NFL Combine, where Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni responded cautiously when asked about Brown’s presence next season.

Coaching and Management Provide Ambiguous Responses

Coach Nick Sirianni addressed reporters on Tuesday, indicating no firm commitment regarding Brown’s future with the Eagles.

“Will A.J. be here next season? I think we’re still in a spot, like, I can’t guarantee how anything is going to play out into next season,”

Sirianni stated. He also added with a light tone,

“I’m thinking I’m going to be the coach next season, but you can’t guarantee anything past tomorrow.”

Later, he acknowledged the value Brown brings to the team:

“Yeah, my expectation is he wants to be here. And obviously you want good players like that in your building.”

Similarly, Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman avoided confirming Brown’s status outright. Roseman emphasized the team’s goal to improve, saying,

“We are trying to get better. It’s hard to do that if you’re just subtracting great players. We will do whatever is in the best interest of our team for this year and going forward. Anything that puts us in position to win another championship.”

Roseman further explained the realities of managing trade offers in the league, stating,

“I think you go into the league year listening to offers for everything and anything. Someone is going to give you something you didn’t anticipate and you won’t even have the conversation, I don’t think you’re necessarily doing your job or really servicing the team you’re with.”

He continued,

“You never know what someone is willing to do. Certainly, we’ve been in situations where there were guys we didn’t anticipate trading that we got an offer that was too good, and then you balance it with what you can get there.”

A.J. Brown’s Performances and Trade Considerations

Brown, who will turn 29 in June, remains one of the Eagles’ most productive wide receivers. Over his four seasons with the team, he has achieved 1,000 or more yards and at least seven touchdowns annually, including last year’s campaign where he recorded 78 receptions, 1,003 yards, and seven touchdowns in 15 games. His consistent performance underscores his importance to the Eagles’ offense.

Despite the Eagles’ apparent reluctance to part ways with Brown, trade rumors persist, especially from franchises in need of receiving talent. The New England Patriots, for example, could view Brown as a strategic acquisition due to their need at wide receiver. Brown’s prior tenure with the Tennessee Titans, during which Mike Vrabel served as head coach, adds a familiar connection that could influence trade discussions.

However, any trade deal would need to be beneficial for both sides. The Eagles would be cautious about any arrangement that could weaken their roster. Additionally, Brown’s contract presents a financial hurdle; trading him before June 1 would result in $43.4 million in dead cap space for Philadelphia, creating a significant salary cap challenge.

Ongoing Speculation Expected During Offseason

While there is no definitive indication that A.J. Brown will be traded, neither the Eagles’ coaching staff nor management has ruled out the possibility, leaving the door open for ongoing rumors. As the offseason advances, more developments concerning Brown’s trade speculation are likely to emerge. The implications of any move involving Brown could have a significant impact on the Eagles’ championship aspirations and the wider NFL landscape.
