The Chicago Bears are considering significant roster adjustments following their recent run to the NFC divisional round. Amid ongoing discussions at the NFL Scouting Combine, general manager Ryan Poles has expressed openness to trade talks involving key players, including wide receiver D.J. Moore. Despite a decline in Moore’s production last season, Poles emphasized the team’s appreciation for the veteran, while acknowledging the need to explore all options to build the strongest team possible.
Moore completed a campaign with 50 receptions for 682 yards and six touchdowns across 17 games, marking his lowest output since joining the Bears. Poles stated,
“I got to have conversations and kind of see what the best combination of players we can bring in,”
and continued,
“(But) we want him here. We think highly of him. He’s a great teammate. He has been productive pretty consistently over the last couple years that he has been here. So, I have nothing but great things to say about him. But this is the time where we have to look at all the different scenarios and see what can allow us to put the best team we can put out there. There’s relationships there, there’s a lot there that makes it really, really difficult. He’s a guy we want here, but we have to look at all the different scenarios.”

Though Moore is under contract through the 2029 season, Poles’ comments suggest the Bears are open to entertaining offers if it benefits their overall roster strategy.
Linebacker Trade Possibility and Depth Concerns
In addition to Moore, linebacker Tremaine Edmunds has received permission to explore trade options, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Edmunds, a two-time Pro Bowler, posted solid numbers last season with 112 tackles, nine pass break-ups, one sack, and a fumble recovery. However, with his contract set to expire soon, the Bears face the possibility of either trading or releasing him should a suitable deal not materialize.

Edmunds’ potential departure would leave a significant gap in Chicago’s linebacker corps. As a result, the Bears may look to bring in veteran Demario Davis, reuniting him with defensive coordinator Dennis Allen, who coached Davis during his time with the New Orleans Saints from 2018 to 2024. This move could stabilize the linebacker position and provide experience to a reshaped defense.
Implications for the Bears’ Future Roster
The uncertainty surrounding key players like D.J. Moore and Tremaine Edmunds highlights the Bears’ ongoing efforts to optimize their lineup after last season’s playoff appearance. While Poles values these athletes, he is clearly weighing all potential scenarios to enhance the team’s competitiveness. The pursuit of Demario Davis further signals a strategic approach to fortifying weak spots, particularly on defense.
How these trade discussions unfold will be crucial in shaping the Bears’ 2026 roster and beyond, as the organization seeks to maintain momentum while addressing areas of concern. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see which players remain and who might move on during this period of transition.
