Chloe Kim has shared a funny story about how her relationship with Myles Garrett began due to a simple mix-up. The Olympic snowboarder once attended a Cleveland Browns game, thinking she was about to see the famous DJ Martin Garrix perform live. Instead, she was unknowingly meeting one of the NFL’s top defensive players, Myles Garrett.
Invited by a mutual friend, Kim heard Garrett’s name but mistakenly believed it was Garrix. Expecting a musical halftime show, she was disappointed when no performance took place, prompting a blunt reaction.
Martin Garrix never showed up, and I was like, ‘This guy is whack! Why is he not showing up?’
she remarked.
And I later find out that we were there to see Myles, and not Martin.
This initial confusion gradually led to a meaningful connection between the two athletes. They publicly confirmed their relationship at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Tokyo in May 2025 and have since shared their support for each other on social media, blending the worlds of elite sport and playful chemistry.
Myles Garrett’s Support During the 2026 Winter Olympics
Their partnership has extended beyond social media, impacting pivotal moments in their careers. Following his recognition as the NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Garrett traveled to Italy to cheer Kim on during the 2026 Winter Olympics. Despite nursing a shoulder injury, Kim competed in the halfpipe event, aiming to capture a third consecutive gold medal.
She finished second, narrowly missing the historic feat to 17-year-old South Korean snowboarder Choi Ga-on. Throughout the intense competition, Kim highlighted how Garrett’s presence helped her cope with the pressure.
It just made a really intense, stressful moment so light and kind of grounded me,
Kim said.
Myles has been in my life for a little over a year now, and he’s been the most amazing, supportive person in my life.
From a mistaken identity to unwavering Olympic support, their story illustrates a relationship rooted in humor and stability despite challenging circumstances.
