David Pastrnak guided Team Czechia during the 2026 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony held on February 6 at Milan’s San Siro Stadium. The Boston Bruins forward carried the nation’s flag alongside biathlete Lucie Charvátová, representing Czechia on a global stage.
Cérémony Role and Player Reactions
Pastrnak expressed his deep honor after being selected as a flag bearer, sharing his emotions following a game against the Florida Panthers.
“Very, very honored and going over there to represent my country. I am going to give them my all. Very happy and honored to be able to hold our flag and represent us at the ceremony,”
he said.
Team Setbacks Ahead of Tournament Start
Despite the excitement surrounding Pastrnak’s role, the team faced a setback when teammate Pavel Zacha was ruled out of the Olympics due to an upper-body injury. The men’s ice hockey tournament is scheduled to begin on February 11, putting additional pressure on Czechia’s roster to perform.
