UFC 324 on Paramount+ Exceeded All Expectations, Says Dana White

UFC’s initial broadcast on Paramount+ has delivered promising early results, according to Dana White. Following the end of UFC’s partnership with ESPN, the organization entered a significant seven-year, $7.7 billion streaming agreement with Paramount, signaling a shift away from pay-per-view events. UFC 324, held on Saturday, became the first UFC event streamed on Paramount+ and reportedly surpassed anticipated performance benchmarks.

Early Metrics Suggest Remarkable Viewer Engagement

At the UFC 324 post-fight press conference, Dana White spoke about the audience reaction, although exact streaming figures were not yet available. He shared a conversation with Ari Emanuel, who indicated that detailed numbers would be released early this week. Despite the absence of official statistics, White emphasized that the event’s success dramatically exceeded expectations.

“I just talked to Ari [Emanuel], Ari said we’ll have numbers on Monday or Tuesday,”

White said.

“This exceeded expectations beyond belief for Paramount. We know it killed it, we just don’t know the exact number yet. They’re saying it exceeded by double.”

Highlights From UFC 324’s Key Fights

The event was headlined by an interim lightweight title clash between Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett. The bout went the full distance, with Gaethje securing a unanimous decision victory to claim the interim championship. He is now positioned for a title unification fight against Ilia Topuria, the current undisputed lightweight champion who is momentarily absent from competition.

Originally, Amanda Nunes was set to make her return in a matchup against Kayla Harrison for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship. However, Harrison’s neck surgery forced a change in the card, elevating former bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley and Song Yadong to the co-main event. O’Malley emerged victorious by unanimous decision and is seeking a rematch with reigning champion Petr Yan.

Also featured was the heavyweight contest between fan favorite Derrick Lewis and Waldo Cortes-Acosta, ranked fifth in the division. Lewis suffered a TKO defeat in the second round, extending Cortes-Acosta’s winning streak to three.

What UFC’s Streaming Success Could Mean Going Forward

The strong performance of UFC 324 on Paramount+ represents a critical milestone in the promotion’s distribution strategy. Moving away from traditional pay-per-view, this streaming debut may signal a new era for MMA broadcasts, with a broader digital audience now accessible. As the exact viewer statistics become public, stakeholders will gain clearer insight into the long-term impact of the Paramount+ deal on UFC’s reach and revenue.
