Michael Chandler Eyes Spot on UFC White House Card

Veteran UFC lightweight Michael Chandler is aiming to secure a position on the upcoming UFC White House card this summer, continuing his efforts after several years competing at the highest level. Known for his exciting fighting style, Chandler transitioned to the UFC from Bellator and has since faced top contenders in his division, including a title bout and delivering one of the most memorable knockouts in UFC history.

Although a highly anticipated fight with Conor McGregor seems unlikely following recent setbacks, Chandler remains focused on joining the high-profile White House event.

Chandler Shares His Perspective on Key UFC Matchups

In a recent interview with MMA Junkie conducted for Phorm Energy, Chandler expressed his interest in the lightweight division’s ongoing rivalries. Reflecting on the upcoming bouts, he said,

“I got my eye on that one, because I think Max gets the win,”

referring to Max Holloway’s chances.

“I think Oliveira is coming off a pretty devastating knockout and turned around real quick, jumped into another training camp. I got my eyes set on that BMF belt if Max wins, so we’ll see.”

Chandler also commented on fellow fighter Dan Hooker’s personality and fighting style, stating,

“I saw him (Dan Hooker) do that after another fight,”

and added,

“It’s almost like he makes these funny callouts, like maybe he’s serious, maybe he’s not, and he kind of makes fun of himself talking about being on the prelims and stuff. So, he’s a character, man. If you don’t like Dan Hooker, I don’t know if you like MMA.”

Context Surrounding Chandler’s UFC Journey and Future Prospects

Since joining the UFC from Bellator, where he had a highly successful run, Michael Chandler has faced some of the sport’s best lightweights, including battles for the championship. Despite recent losses dimming the possibility of a McGregor showdown, Chandler’s ambition to feature on major cards like the White House event demonstrates his determination to remain a significant figure in the division. His comments indicate a keen awareness of the competitive landscape and a focus on future opportunities.

This pursuit not only keeps Chandler relevant among lightweight contenders but also maintains fan interest as the division continues evolving with rising stars and established names like Max Holloway, Charles Oliveira, and Dan Hooker making headlines.
