UFC’s Eduarda Moura Opens Up About Bipolar Diagnosis

Eduarda Moura revealed she has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder after her decision loss to Wang Cong at UFC Vegas 113 on February 7. Moura explained that the fight camp leading to the bout was the most challenging period of her life due to her mental health struggles, which affected her training and performance.

Challenges Faced During Training and Embracing the Diagnosis

In her candid statement, Moura acknowledged the difficulties she encountered during the fight camp, which included missing weight and not being able to train properly. She clarified that her diagnosis was not an excuse for her loss but an explanation of what she had endured. Initially, Moura struggled to accept the bipolar disorder diagnosis, having held prejudices that viewed it as a sign of weakness or something she could conquer alone.

“This is not an excuse, this is the truth. Last year I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and at first it was very hard, very hard to accept. I had my own prejudice about it, I thought it was weakness, something I could control on my own. And I tried, for almost a year, but I realized that mental health is just as important as physical training. I understood that treating, monitoring, and respecting my body and my mind is essential to keep living my dream,”

Moura explained.

Commitment to Treatment and Moving Forward with Strength

Since beginning treatment, Moura is learning how to manage her condition, describing it as a source of strength rather than weakness. She emphasized that seeking help does not make anyone weaker and stressed the importance of mental health alongside physical fitness in her career.

“I started treatment, I’m learning how to deal with it, and it has shown me strength — not weakness, like I once believed. Today I want my message to be this: no one is weaker for needing help. Everyone has battles that don’t show up inside the octagon, but they don’t define us and they never will. I keep fighting, I keep believing, and I keep building my story,”

Moura shared.

Expressing Gratitude to Supporters and Future Aspirations

Moura expressed heartfelt thanks to her fans, team, and sponsors for their unwavering support despite her struggles. She pledged to return stronger, better prepared, and more mature in future competitions.

“I want to thank all my fans who believe in me, my team, and my sponsors for standing by me even when I’m not at my best. I promise I will come back much stronger, better prepared, and more mature. I didn’t give up and I never will. Thank you, everyone, for everything,”

she stated.
