Charles Oliveira Urges UFC: “Book a Stadium in Brazil Now”

Charles Oliveira is preparing to return to the octagon this Saturday at UFC 326, where he will face Max Holloway for the BMF title at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Alongside this high-profile bout, Oliveira has made a strong appeal to UFC leadership to host a stadium-scale event in Brazil, reflecting his desire to elevate the promotion’s presence in his home country.

Known as ‘Do Bronx,’ Oliveira has achieved seven consecutive UFC victories on Brazilian soil, most recently defeating Mateusz Gamrot last October. While accustomed to fighting in arenas across Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, Oliveira insists that Brazil is ready for UFC to stage a much larger spectacle, asking Dana White and UFC executives to organize a stadium event that can truly showcase the sport’s popularity there.

Oliveira’s Message to UFC Executives: Time for a Brazilian Stadium Show

Speaking during media day for UFC 326, Oliveira directed a clear message to UFC President Dana White, Hunter Campbell, and matchmaker Sean Shelby, urging them to act decisively. He emphasized that the timing is right to move beyond traditional arenas and secure a full-capacity stadium event in Brazil, describing it as something the Brazilian fans rightfully deserve.

“I’ve said this before and I said it after my last fight — Brazil deserves it,”

Oliveira told reporters.

He added,

“This is the time for us to do it. This is the time to make it happen. To make it in a stadium. Brazil deserves that. The Brazilian people deserve that. A stadium, closed, put an Octagon in the middle and we’re going to do our job, which is to fill that stadium up to capacity.”

Oliveira continued his appeal, saying,

“Listen, Dana, Hunter, Sean (Shelby); everybody get it together,

The Brazilian people deserve this and we’re going to make it beautiful.”

Brazil’s Leading UFC Fighters Eye Future High-Profile Opportunities

While Oliveira pushes for a major stadium event in Brazil, other top Brazilian UFC fighters may soon compete on an international stage with political and promotional significance. Rumors suggest that stars such as Alex Pereira and Amanda Nunes could be featured at a UFC event planned for the White House lawn this June.

If Kayla Harrison recovers from the neck injury that forced her withdrawal from UFC 324 in January, she is expected to defend her bantamweight title against the returning Amanda Nunes in Washington, D.C.

Meanwhile, Alex Pereira is pursuing a third divisional championship. Although a super-fight between Pereira and Jon Jones remains a possibility, current speculation favors Pereira challenging Ciryl Gane for interim heavyweight gold due to Tom Aspinall’s recent absence.

Oliveira’s Stadium Demand Highlights Growing UFC Popularity in Brazil

Charles Oliveira’s push for a stadium event underscores the expanding UFC fanbase in Brazil and the increasing market appeal of the sport there. Successfully hosting a large-scale event in a stadium could mark a significant milestone for the UFC and be a source of pride for Brazilian fighters and fans alike.

With UFC 326 approaching, all eyes will be on Oliveira’s performance as he seeks to capture another title, while his broader desire for a groundbreaking event in Brazil signals a potential shift in UFC’s event strategy. Should the promotion heed his call, Brazil could soon host one of the largest UFC audiences in history, elevating the sport’s profile in the region even further.
