Woodmill and St Columba’s Staff Face Off in Pickleball Challenge

Woodmill and St Columba’s Staff Face Off: As the proximity between Woodmill High and St. Columba’s draws closer, faculty members are seizing the opportunity to build teamwork through pickleball.

Physics teacher Paul Ross of St. Columba’s and his wife, Aimee, an English instructor at Woodmill High, created a series of introductory pickleball sessions in anticipation of the move to the Dunfermline Learning Campus this summer.

These taster sessions, held last month under the guidance of Fife Under 60 Pickleball champion and St. Columba’s physics teacher, Claire Ryan, provided a firsthand experience of the sport.

The enthusiastic response from staff has spurred plans to establish a DLC Pickleball Doubles league upon relocation to the new campus.

Looking ahead, there are aspirations to involve students in pickleball activities, facilitated by the Active Sports coordinators. This initiative not only aims to introduce pupils to the sport but also seeks to cultivate relationships among the schools sharing the upcoming campus space.
