New Pickleball Courts Open at Deerwood Park: Howell Township residents now have a local venue to embrace the pickleball trend, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony held by township officials at Deerwood Park on Friday. The park, situated at 2740 Lakewood-Allenwood Road, underwent renovations that included the installation of four pickleball courts. Additionally, the park now features two new basketball courts, including a “kid-sized” court and a half-court, according to officials.
The pickleball courts are accessible daily from 7 a.m. until sunset. While reservations are currently not required, township officials indicated they may implement a system if demand for the courts remains consistently high.
We understand there is at least one online pickleball group that has formed for Ramtown; we are sharing the information for any players who may be interested. The app is called Team Reach, the name of the group is Ramtown Pickleball and the group code is PurplePark.” – (officials)
Players are expected to adhere to court usage rules and etiquette. Games are played to 11 points, with a protocol of four players on and four off when there are four or more waiting. For fewer than four waiting, a two-on, two-off rotation is recommended.
The courts are open to participants of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned players.
“Enjoy the new courts; if the sport gains the expected popularity, we will explore constructing additional courts in other parks.” – (officials)
