Brooklyn Pickleball Team DreamBreaker victory: The Brooklyn Pickleball Team earned its first DreamBreaker victory of the season by defeating the Carolina Hogs in a tense match on Sunday. Brooklyn, now with thirteen wins and five losses, stayed unbeaten in its home state. The final score came after dramatic comebacks and close games.
The match began with Rachel Rohrabacher and Jackie Kawamoto winning women’s doubles for Brooklyn. Carolina’s Ben Johns and Roscoe Bellamy answered back by taking men’s doubles. In the first mixed doubles game, Etta Tuionetoa and Ben Johns jumped out to an 8-4 lead against Rohrabacher and AJ Koller. But Rohrabacher and Koller rallied to claim one of the season’s most exciting wins.
“That was probably the most fun match I’ve played in a long time. I mean, Rachel is just a stud. We didn’t really say much when we were down. I think we just said before the match that we were gonna trust each other the whole way, and so we didn’t really blink at 4-8. We were gonna go out swinging, and it made for a heck of a match.”(AJ Koller)
