Performance Pickleball RVA to Host Mid-Atlantic Competition

Pickleball RVA to Host Mid-Atlantic Competition: Performance Pickleball RVA is set to host the Mid-Atlantic competition as part of the inaugural USA Pickleball Select Series, announced by USA Pickleball. Scheduled from July 18-21, players of all ages and skill levels will vie for the Regional Title in their respective divisions.

Mike Nealy, CEO of USA Pickleball, expressed excitement about offering the USA Pickleball Select Series, highlighting its role in helping members refine their tournament skills across five prominent locations. The initiative aims to provide all participants, whether new to tournaments or seasoned veterans, with opportunities to compete in high-quality events that contribute to their development in pickleball.

“We’re excited to offer the USA Pickleball Select Series for our members to continue to hone their tournament skills in five great locations, Whether it’s a player’s first tournament or their third, we want to ensure our members have the opportunity to compete in quality events to better their pickleball skills.” -( Mike Nealy )

PPBRVA co-founder Jon Laaser expressed gratitude and pride that Richmond and Performance Pickleball RVA were selected. He noted that the upcoming event in mid-July would be pioneering and historic for the region. Reflecting on the timing, Laaser humorously remarked that it was a favorable time to be indoors in RVA.

The Select Series will adopt a Round Robin format, highlighting competitive divisions shaped to varying skill levels, sanctioned by USA Pickleball. This event marks another significant milestone for Performance Pickleball RVA, which opened its doors to the public earlier this year.

“We had our own Body Armour 804 open two weeks ago with 450 players,” Laaser added. “I think people know us well enough to know we’re not all the way there yet. But it’s a testament that others have noticed that Richmond is a hotbed place to play pickleball and Performance Pickleball is an excellent place to host an event like this.”
