Blake Carrington Wesley (born March 16, 2003) is an American professional basketball player for the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Wesley is recognized for his scoring ability and has quickly made a name for himself in the league since being drafted in 2022.
Early Life and Background
Blake Wesley was born in South Bend, Indiana, where he attended James Whitcomb Riley High School. During his junior year, he showcased his skills by averaging 26 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. In his senior season, he elevated his performance, averaging 27.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game, which helped lead his high school team to the Class 4A sectional title. His exceptional play earned him a spot on the Indiana All-Star team. Wesley was a consensus four-star recruit, and on November 20, 2020, he committed to playing college basketball for the University of Notre Dame, choosing the Fighting Irish over several other prestigious programs.

Blake Wesley was selected with the 25th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs. He joined the Spurs’ Summer League roster, where he made a strong impression by scoring 20 points and providing five assists in his debut against the Cleveland Cavaliers. On July 5, 2022, he signed a rookie-scale contract with the Spurs. Wesley made his NBA debut on October 28, 2022, scoring 10 points and recording 4 assists in a win against the Chicago Bulls.
Breakthrough (2022-2025)
Wesley’s early career was marked by both promise and challenges. Just two days after his debut, he suffered a significant injury, tearing his left MCL during a game. Despite this setback, he was assigned to the Austin Spurs and made a successful return to the court less than seven weeks later, scoring 12 points in a game against the Capitanes de la Ciudad de México. After a few seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, Wesley was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in July 2025.
