Early Life and Background

Caleb Jones was born to Darice Maxie and James Jones in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Lawrence North High School, where he participated in football, track-and-field, and basketball. His athletic prowess earned him recognition, and he was named an Associated Press all-state offensive lineman for the state of Indiana. Rated as the twelfth-best player in the state, he chose to attend Indiana University to further his football career.
During his time at Indiana University, Caleb Jones redshirted his freshman year, which meant he did not play in any games. However, he made a significant impact in his sophomore year, starting his first game against Florida International University and participating in eleven games overall. Jones had his most productive season during his junior year, starting twelve games at right tackle and one game at left tackle. His contributions helped Indiana set a school record for the most passing yards in a season. In his senior year, he continued to excel, starting all twelve games at right tackle despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which limited the previous season’s play.

Path to American Football

Caleb Jones’ journey to professional football began with his strong performances in high school, which paved the way for his college career at Indiana University. After going undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft, he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Green Bay Packers. Initially, Jones did not make the Packers’ 53-man roster and was placed on the practice squad. However, due to injuries and a lack of depth on the offensive line during the 2022 NFL season, he was elevated to the active roster.
On October 1, 2022, Jones was placed on the non-football illness list but was activated again on December 14, 2022. His time with the Packers included being offered a tender after the 2023 season, but he was ultimately released on August 27, 2024. Following his release, Jones signed with the New England Patriots on September 3, 2024, joining their practice squad. He later signed a reserve/future contract with the team on January 6, 2025.
