Dylan Cardwell Bio
Dylan Cardwell (born December 16, 2001) is an American professional basketball player for the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association (NBA), on a two-way contract with the Stockton Kings of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Auburn Tigers.
Early Life and Background
Dylan Cardwell was born in Augusta, Georgia. He attended Oak Hill Academy up to his junior season before transferring to McEachern High School for his senior year. During his junior year, he averaged 3.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Coming out of high school, Cardwell was rated as a three-star recruit and chose to play college basketball for the Auburn Tigers over other programs such as Georgia, Tennessee, Miami, Maryland, and UConn.

Cardwell’s early exposure to basketball came during his time at Oak Hill Academy, a school known for its strong basketball program. His transfer to McEachern High School provided him with additional opportunities to develop his skills. After a successful high school career, he committed to Auburn University, where he would continue to hone his craft and compete at a higher level.

As a freshman at Auburn in the 2020-21 season, Cardwell appeared in 27 games, averaging 3.8 points and 3.6 rebounds in 15.2 minutes per game. He made a notable impact in a game against rival Alabama on January 11, 2022, where he recorded six points, six rebounds, and four blocks. Throughout the 2021-22 season, he continued to contribute, appearing in all 34 games and averaging three points and three rebounds.
Breakthrough (2023–2025)
In the 2022-23 season, Cardwell averaged 3.7 points and 3.8 rebounds in 32 appearances. He showed significant improvement in the 2023-24 season, averaging 5.3 points, 1.6 blocks, and 1.2 assists in 14.7 minutes per game. Heading into the 2024-25 season, he became a full-time starter for the first time. On December 30, 2024, he had a standout performance, posting 12 points, 11 rebounds, two blocks, and a steal in a win over Monmouth. On March 1, 2025, Cardwell made history by becoming the all-time winningest player in Auburn men’s basketball history, achieving 115 wins after helping the Tigers secure a victory over Kentucky.
