Emma Cannon Bio
Emma Cannon (born June 1, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played college basketball for Central Florida and Florida Southern before debuting in the WNBA in 2017 for the Phoenix Mercury. Cannon has also played for the Connecticut Sun, Indiana Fever, and Las Vegas Aces and has played overseas in Germany, Australia, Israel, Russia, Poland, Hungary, Turkey, and China. She won two championships with Elitzur Ramla of the Israeli League in 2022 and 2023.
Early Life and Background
Emma Cannon was born in Rochester, New York. She attended the School of the Arts in Rochester, where she excelled in basketball, amassing 1,800 points and 1,800 rebounds during her high school career. Cannon holds the school record for the most points (47) and rebounds (35) in a single game. Following her outstanding high school career, she committed to play collegiate basketball at the University of Central Florida.
Path to Basketball
During her freshman year at Central Florida, Cannon was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team after averaging 11.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. She continued her impressive play, earning a spot on the C-USA First Team and breaking the school record for rebounds in a season with 393. Cannon also received the C-USA Tournament MVP award, leading her team to the NCAA Tournament. After her time at Central Florida, she transferred to Florida Southern College for her senior year, where she helped guide the Mocs to a 26–5 record and a trip to the Regional Final.

Early Career (2011–2017)
Emma Cannon began her professional career in 2011, playing for Osnabrücker SC in Germany. She later joined the Rockingham Flames in Australia before returning to Germany to play for TSV 1880 Wasserburg from 2012 to 2015. During her time in Germany, she won three German DBBL championships and two German Cup titles. In 2017, Cannon made her WNBA debut with the Phoenix Mercury, where she played in all 34 regular-season games, averaging 4.4 points and 3.6 rebounds.
Breakthrough (2017–2021)
Cannon’s breakthrough in the WNBA came during her debut season with the Phoenix Mercury. She scored a career-high 17 points against the Dallas Wings and recorded a career-high 10 rebounds against the Atlanta Dream.
