He attended Theodore Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte, where he led their ice hockey team to a state championship in 2011. That year, he scored 48 goals and 57 assists, earning the title of Michigan’s “Mr. Hockey,” an award given to the top boys’ ice hockey player in the state.
Path to Hockey
After high school, Mayhew played four years of collegiate hockey with the Ferris State Bulldogs in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. Undrafted, he turned professional by signing an amateur tryout agreement with the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League on March 9, 2017.
