Griffin Lawrence Dorsey (born March 5, 1999) is an American professional soccer player who plays for Major League Soccer club Houston Dynamo as a winger or full-back. He began his soccer journey with Colorado Rush SC, eventually moving to Indiana University where he excelled and helped his team reach significant tournaments. In 2019, Dorsey was drafted by Toronto FC and has since made a name for himself in Major League Soccer, showcasing his skills with Houston Dynamo. Griffin Dorsey was born in Evergreen, Colorado, United States. Growing up in a region with a rich sporting culture, he was exposed to soccer at an early age. Dorsey played for Colorado Rush SC, a youth soccer club that provided him with foundational training and competitive experience. Path to Soccer

Dorsey’s early soccer career began with Colorado Rush SC, where he played for three years in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. His talent was evident, and he transitioned to college soccer at Indiana University. During his time with the Hoosiers, Dorsey made 44 appearances, scoring eight goals and providing eleven assists. His performance helped the team reach the NCAA Tournament in both years he played, including a runner-up finish in 2017. Dorsey received several accolades during his college career, including being named a 2nd-Team Freshman All-American and 1st-Team All-Big Ten.

Early Career (2017–2019)

Dorsey’s professional career began when he signed a Generation Adidas contract with Major League Soccer in January 2019. He was drafted in the first round of the 2019 MLS SuperDraft by Toronto FC, being the sixth overall pick. Dorsey made his professional debut on February 19, 2019, in a CONCACAF Champions League match against Independiente. He spent a significant portion of the 2019 season on loan with Toronto FC II, where he scored his first professional goal on June 12, 2019.

Breakthrough (2021–Present)

After being waived by Toronto FC in May 2021, Dorsey signed with Houston Dynamo on July 5, 2021. He made his debut for the Dynamo on July 24, 2021, and quickly made an impact by scoring his first goal for the team on September 11, 2021, in a match against Austin FC. His performances earned him a spot on the MLS Team of the Week and he was recognized as the Dynamo Young Player of the Year in his first season with the club.
