Early Life and Background

Jacob Andrew Eder was born on October 9, 1998. He attended Atlantic Community High School in Delray Beach, Florida, for three years before transferring to Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for his senior year. In 2017, during his senior baseball season, he achieved an impressive record of 8–1 with a 1.25 earned run average (ERA) and struck out 81 batters. Eder was selected by the New York Mets in the 34th round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft but opted to play college baseball at Vanderbilt University instead.

Eder’s collegiate career began in 2018 at Vanderbilt University, where he appeared in 11 games, making nine starts and finishing with a 1–4 record and a 5.45 ERA over 33 innings. As a sophomore in 2019, he improved significantly, pitching 34+1⁄3 innings in relief with a 1–0 record and a 2.88 ERA, while also striking out 37 batters. In July 2021, he was selected to participate in the All-Star Futures Game as an injury replacement. Over 15 starts in 2021, Eder recorded a 3–5 record with a 1.77 ERA, striking out 99 batters in 71+1⁄3 innings.

On November 14, 2023, he was added to the White Sox’s 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft.
