Johnathan Jenkins (born July 11, 1989) is an American professional football nose tackle for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Georgia Bulldogs and was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the third round of the 2013 NFL draft. He has also played for the Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears, New York Giants, and Miami Dolphins.
Early Life and Background
Johnathan Jenkins was born in Stamford, Connecticut, and grew up in Meriden, Connecticut. He attended Francis T. Maloney High School, where he was a member of the Maloney Spartans high school football team. During his senior year, he played defensive end and occasionally filled in as a fullback during short-yardage situations, scoring four touchdowns. After high school, Jenkins continued his football career at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Perkinston, Mississippi, where he recorded 41 tackles and two quarterback sacks as a sophomore. His time at Gulf Coast was marked by a successful 19-5 record over two seasons. Jenkins later received an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Georgia, where he played for the Georgia Bulldogs football team under coach Mark Richt from 2011 to 2012.
Path to American Football
At Georgia, Jenkins was recruited to play the nose tackle position in the team’s 3-4 defensive scheme, where he rotated with Kwame Geathers. His performance in college earned him recognition, including being named a Second-team All-SEC selection in 2012. Jenkins declared for the NFL Draft after his college career and was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the third round as the 82nd overall pick in 2013.

Jenkins began his professional career with the New Orleans Saints, signing a four-year contract on May 10, 2013. He played with the Saints until 2016, contributing to the team’s defensive line.
