Kellen Louis Mond (born June 22, 1999) is an American professional football quarterback currently playing for the San Antonio Brahmas in the United Football League. He played college football for the Texas A&M Aggies, where he was a four-year starter and became one of three Southeastern Conference quarterbacks to record over 9,000 career passing yards along with 1,500 rushing yards. Mond was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, marking the beginning of his professional career.
Early Life and Background
Kellen Mond was born in San Antonio, Texas. He initially attended Ronald Reagan High School before transferring to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, prior to his senior year. At IMG Academy, he excelled as a quarterback, passing for 1,936 yards and 20 touchdowns while also rushing for 775 yards and 18 touchdowns. His impressive performance earned him a five-star recruit rating from Rivals.com, ranking him as the number one dual-threat quarterback in his class. Following high school, Mond committed to Texas A&M University to play college football under head coach Kevin Sumlin.
Path to American Football
Mond began his college career at Texas A&M in 2017 as a backup to Nick Starkel. However, he quickly took over as the starter after Starkel was injured in the first game of the season against the UCLA Bruins. In his first career start, he completed 12 of 21 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown. During the 2018 season, under new head coach Jimbo Fisher, Mond solidified his position as the starting quarterback, leading the Aggies to an 8–4 record and a #19 ranking in the College Football Playoff rankings. Kellen Mond was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, being the 66th overall pick. He signed a four-year rookie contract with the team on June 15, 2021. Mond made his NFL debut in a game against the Green Bay Packers, completing two of three passes for five yards in a challenging 37–10 loss. His time with the Vikings was brief, as he was waived on August 30, 2022.

After being waived by the Vikings, Mond was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns on August 31, 2022.
