Matthew Michael McLain was born on August 6, 1999. He attended Arnold O. Beckman High School in Irvine, California, where he showcased his talent in baseball. In the 2022 season, McLain was promoted to the Reds’ Double-A affiliate, the Chattanooga Lookouts. He played 103 games for Chattanooga, hitting .232 with 17 home runs and 58 RBIs.
