Sarr played for various club teams, including Bouscat and TOAC, before joining INSEP, a sports institute in Paris. He competed for Centre Fédéral in the Nationale Masculine 1 and represented INSEP at the Adidas Next Generation Tournament. At the age of 15, Sarr moved to the United States to pursue his basketball career further. He was recognized as a four-star recruit and chose to attend Wake Forest University over offers from other schools such as California, Vanderbilt, and UCF.
