Steele was born on June 4, 1997, in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Byron P. Steele II High School, where he excelled as a left tackle. After high school, he played for Texas Tech from 2015 to 2019, contributing significantly as part of the offensive line. Early Life and Background

Terence Steele was born in San Antonio, Texas, where he attended Byron P. Steele II High School. As a senior, he was the starter at left tackle and received All-District 25-6A and San Antonio Express-News first team All-Area honors. Steele was considered a three-star recruit, ranked as the No. 1,844 overall prospect and the No. 179 offensive tackle in his class. He committed to Texas Tech University over offers from other schools, including Brigham Young University, North Texas, and the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Path to American Football

Steele played college football for the Texas Tech Red Raiders from 2015 to 2019. As a redshirt freshman, he played under future NFL head coach Kliff Kingsbury, starting the first ten games at left tackle before moving to right tackle for the last two contests. During his time at Texas Tech, he blocked for future NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes and contributed to the team leading the nation in passing yards and total offense. Steele was named to the All-Big 12 freshman team and continued to start throughout his college career, finishing with 47 starts. Early Career (2020)

Terence Steele was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys on April 27, 2020, after the NFL draft. Due to injuries to starting players, he was pressed into the starting lineup during his rookie season. Steele became just the fourth offensive tackle in the Super Bowl era to start at least 14 contests as an undrafted rookie. He played in all 16 games, with 14 starts, despite facing challenges in his performance.

Breakthrough (2021-2023)

In the 2021 season, Steele started ten games for the Cowboys, even after longtime starter La’el Collins returned from suspension. He showcased versatility by playing both right and left tackle throughout the season. Notably, he caught his first NFL touchdown pass from Dak Prescott against the Washington Football Team. In 2022, Steele started 13 games at right tackle before suffering a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee, which ended his season.
