At the age of 16, he was introduced to American football through the Flevo Phantoms, a local team, and quickly developed a passion for the sport due to its physicality and intensity. During his time with the Phantoms, he played three seasons in two years, primarily at defensive end and offensive lineman, and recorded an impressive 22 sacks in one season. There, he transitioned to playing tight end and made an immediate impact, recording 15 receptions for 184 yards and two touchdowns, which earned him all-conference honors. After one season, he transferred to Garden City Community College in Kansas, but his progress was hindered by a foot injury that caused him to redshirt. In 2018, he joined the Eastern Michigan Eagles, where he played four seasons and became a key player, mainly serving as a blocker. Odukoya played a total of 40 games for Eastern Michigan, finishing his college career with 21 catches for 194 yards and four touchdowns.
