David Bednar is an American professional baseball pitcher currently with the New York Yankees, following a midseason 2025 trade from the Pittsburgh Pirates. A Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native, he previously played for the San Diego Padres and Pirates, earning MLB All-Star selections in 2022 and 2023 and winning the National League saves title in 2023. Drafted by San Diego in the 35th round of the 2016 MLB draft out of Lafayette College, he has accumulated more than 125 career saves and 427 strikeouts.
