MJ Melendez is an American professional baseball player who plays catcher and left field in Major League Baseball. Selected by the Kansas City Royals in the second round of the 2017 MLB draft, he rose through the Royals farm system as a power-hitting catcher, winning multiple All-Star honors and the 2021 Joe Bauman Home Run Award after slugging 41 minor league home runs. After debuting with Kansas City in 2022, he appeared in parts of four seasons before being non-tendered in November 2025. He signed with the New York Mets in February 2026 and was called up to the majors in April.
