Brad Keselowski Cleared to Race in Daytona 500 After Injury

Brad Keselowski has received medical clearance to compete in the upcoming Daytona 500, almost two months after breaking his right leg during a family ski trip. He successfully passed a driving evaluation Monday at Charlotte Motor Speedway, allowing him to return behind the wheel of the No. 6 Ford for RFK Racing.

Keselowski’s Recovery and Return to Racing

The injury occurred when Keselowski slipped on ice while enjoying a vacation with his family. Following surgery in mid-December, he remained optimistic about participating in NASCAR‘s season opener. Corey Lajoie took over driving duties in the recent exhibition Clash event held at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Career Highlights and Current Season Outlook

The 2012 Cup Series champion has yet to win in 16 Daytona 500 starts as he prepares to make his 17th full NASCAR season. Turning 42 shortly before the race, Keselowski continues his long tenure at the sport’s highest level. After many years with Team Penske, he purchased part ownership of Roush Fenway Racing in 2022, transforming the organization into RFK Racing, where he now serves as both owner and driver.

Keselowski shared on his social media platform X.

Special thanks to my family, the 6 crew, all the medical professionals and my fans for all your help and support.

Keselowski wrote, expressing his appreciation.

This clearance represents a significant milestone for Keselowski as he prepares to race in one of NASCAR’s most prestigious events under RFK Racing’s banner. His return brings hopeful anticipation to fans and the racing community alike.
