Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson has committed to Hendrick Motorsports through 2031 by signing a five-year contract extension, the team announced in Daytona Beach, Florida. This agreement secures Larson, the 33-year-old driver, alongside Hendrick for nearly a decade, while also solidifying deals with sponsor HendrickCars.com and Larson’s crew chief, Cliff Daniels.
Successful Partnership Between Larson and Crew Chief Cliff Daniels
Since teaming up in 2021 in the No. 5 Chevrolet, Larson and Daniels have captured two Cup Series championships, in 2021 and 2025, while dominating key statistical categories in the sport. HendrickCars.com remains the primary sponsor for 35 of the 38 races during the Cup Series season, supporting this winning partnership consistently.
Larson’s Career Growth and Overcoming Adversity
Kyle Larson joined Hendrick Motorsports following a difficult period that included suspension by NASCAR and dismissal from Chip Ganassi Racing after using a racial slur during a virtual event amid the pandemic shutdown. Since then, Larson has accumulated 32 Cup Series victories, 26 of which have come with Hendrick. He leads all drivers in wins, second-place finishes, top-five and top-10 results, as well as laps led during his tenure with the organization.
Team Leaders Praise Larson and Crew Chief’s Impact
Larson expressed gratitude for the support from Hendrick Motorsports, saying,
“This team, this organization and this family have given me everything I need to compete at the highest level. We’ve accomplished a lot together, but I truly believe the best is still ahead. … I’m excited to keep chasing wins and championships with Cliff and the 5 team for many more years.”
Jeffrey “JB” Brown, president of Hendrick Automotive Group, emphasized that maintaining this championship-winning group was an obvious decision. Meanwhile, team owner Rick Hendrick highlighted the importance of building a strong team through the right people.
Hendrick added,
“Kyle is one of the most complete drivers in our sport. His talent, work ethic and instincts give us a chance to win every time we race. Cliff is a true servant leader who brings out the best in everyone around him and sets the standard for how we go to the track. … Together, it’s a combination that will keep winning races and competing for championships for a long time.”
Future Outlook for Larson and Hendrick Motorsports
This long-term commitment underscores Hendrick Motorsports’ confidence in Larson’s abilities and the strength of his collaboration with Daniels. As the reigning champions and statistical leaders, the team aims to continue their streak of success and uphold their position as frontrunners in NASCAR’s Cup Series over the next several seasons, driven by talent, strategy, and teamwork.
