Brad Keselowski issued a public invitation to four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen to consider racing in NASCAR, following the Dutch driver’s recent critique of the new generation of F1 cars. The RFK Racing co-owner extended the offer via social media, emphasizing that Ford Racing has a seat ready if Verstappen decides to switch disciplines.
The changes brought by the FIA for the 2026 F1 season include a complete redesign of the engine and chassis regulations, with a stronger focus on electric power management. These modifications require drivers to carefully control their energy deployment during races, altering the traditional driving experience.
At the preseason F1 testing in Bahrain, Verstappen expressed his dissatisfaction with the updated cars, commenting on their lack of driving enjoyment.
“To drive, not a lot of fun to be honest, I would say the right word is management.”
“So it’s not always the nicest thing to say, but I also want to be realistic as for as a driver, the feeling is not very F1-like. It feels a bit more like Formula E on steroids,” added Max Verstappen
Verstappen further explained that, while winning remains important, the enjoyment of driving has become a greater priority for him at this stage in his career. He hinted at exploring opportunities beyond Formula 1 to rekindle that excitement.
“A winning car, for me, that doesn’t matter. It needs to be fun to drive as well, I think, at this stage of my career. I mean, I am, of course, also exploring other things outside of Formula 1 to have fun at,” said Verstappen
Reacting to these comments, Brad Keselowski invited Verstappen to join NASCAR, reaffirming that a Ford Racing seat awaits him if he makes that decision.
“We have a @FordRacing cup car ready to go. Feel free to DM when you’re ready Max.”
Keselowski’s Return to NASCAR After Injury
Brad Keselowski, who became part-owner of Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing (RFK) upon joining the team in 2022, recently overcame a significant setback after a skiing accident during the winter break. The injury required surgery and caused him to miss the Clash at Bowman Gray, but Keselowski managed to recover in time to participate in the 2026 Daytona 500.

He shared a personal message about his recovery journey, highlighting the support he received from his family, crew, medical professionals, and fans.
“So much work to get here! Special thanks to my family, the 6 crew, all the medical professionals and my fans for all your help and support ❤️😊👍🏻On to Daytona.”
Keselowski is set to start the Daytona 500 in the ninth position behind the wheel of the No. 6 RFK Racing Ford, marking a strong comeback after his injury.
Implications of Verstappen’s Interest Outside F1
Max Verstappen’s dissatisfaction with the F1 cars’ 2026 regulation changes and his openness to exploring other racing formats could have significant implications for motorsports. Brad Keselowski’s invitation underscores NASCAR’s appeal to elite drivers looking for new challenges and engaging driving experiences.
If Verstappen accepts the invitation, it could boost NASCAR’s international profile and attract more crossover interest from open-wheel racing fans. Moreover, Keselowski’s role as both a driver and part-owner at RFK positions him well to facilitate such a high-profile transition.
For now, the motorsport community awaits whether Verstappen will pursue this opportunity while Keselowski prepares for his return to competitive racing following his recovery.
