Ty Majeski Claims First Pole of 2026 NASCAR Season at Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Ty Majeski earned the pole position for the 2026 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season during qualifying at Daytona, driving the Menards Dayglow truck. This is Majeski’s third time securing a pole at this track and marks ThorSport Racing’s fifth pole position at Daytona in the last six events, highlighting the team’s strong qualifying performances.

Qualifying Details and Field Composition

A total of 44 trucks vied for 36 qualifying spots, with NASCAR allowing up to four additional OEM provisional starting positions specifically for RAM trucks. RAM utilized one of these provisionals for Timothy “Mini” Tyrell, the winner of the RAM Race for the Seat, thus expanding the field to 37 trucks for the Fresh from Florida 250 race.

Tony Stewart led the group of RAM drivers, positioning his truck 15th in the qualifying session as the team strategizes to increase their race-day speed. Meanwhile, Spire Motorsports will have both of its all-star entrants starting near the front, including Michael McDowell, who is aiming for his inaugural Truck Series victory in this event.

Team Performances and Starting Positions

Tricon Garage achieved strong results, with all four of their full-time drivers qualifying within the top ten, reaffirming their competitiveness early in the season. In contrast, notable Truck Series Chase contenders Daniel Hemric and Layne Riggs will begin the race from towards the back of the pack, presenting them with the challenge of advancing through the field during the race.

Drivers Missing Qualification

Several drivers did not qualify for the race, including Brian Dauzat with a time of 51.900 seconds, Timmy Hill at 51.943 seconds, Justin Carroll at 52.001 seconds, Tyler Tomassi with 52.010 seconds, Norm Benning at 52.109 seconds, Toni Breidinger at 52.148 seconds, and Greg van Alst recording 52.415 seconds.

Looking Ahead to the Fresh from Florida 250

With the opening positions set, the Fresh from Florida 250 anticipates an intense competition as Majeski leads the field. The qualifying session showcased the strength of ThorSport Racing, Spire Motorsports, and Tricon Garage, while some favorites will need to overcome starting setbacks. The results at Daytona could shape early momentum and strategy for the 2026 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season.
