Tyler Herro Won’t Boost Bucks’ Interest in Giannis Trade

As the NBA trade deadline nears, several teams have made significant moves, such as the Memphis Grizzlies trading Jaren Jackson Jr., the Boston Celtics acquiring Nikola Vucevic, and the Cleveland Cavaliers signing James Harden. The Dallas Mavericks also executed a major trade by sending Anthony Davis to the Washington Wizards. However, the most anticipated trade involving Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has yet to take place, leaving teams on edge, including the Miami Heat, who have shown interest.

Miami Heat’s Efforts to Acquire Giannis and Bucks’ Response

Sources indicate that the Milwaukee Bucks have communicated disinterest in engaging with Miami’s proposals to trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo, as reported by ClutchPoints NBA Insider Brett Siegel. The Heat reportedly offered Tyler Herro, their shooting guard, as a potential key asset for the trade, but the Bucks dismissed the idea. Rumors suggest the Bucks are not inclined to retain Herro beyond the current season, further dimming trade prospects.

“The Miami Heat are focusing on other avenues at this point. They’ve been told from the Bucks angle that they are not in the sweepstakes before this trade deadline for Giannis Antetokounmpo,” Brett Siegel, ClutchPoints NBA Insider

Tyler Herro’s Performance and Injury Concerns

Currently in the third year of a four-year, $130 million contract, Herro’s season has been marred by injuries and underperformance. His averages of 21.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game fall short of his All-Star level stats from prior seasons. More concerning is that Herro has appeared in only 11 games due to a foot injury that sidelined him for several months and ongoing toe and rib issues since his return.

Uncertainty Surrounding Giannis’ Movement as Deadline Approaches

While the league waits eagerly for a deal involving Giannis Antetokounmpo, signs point to the Bucks holding firm. With fewer than two weeks before the trade deadline, the probability of Milwaukee parting ways with the All-Star seems increasingly slim, despite active trade discussions across the NBA.
