Payton Pritchard appears set to move back to the bench for the Boston Celtics after a trade involving Anfernee Simons. This change comes just after Pritchard had spent much of the current NBA season as a starter, filling a key role amid roster shifts.

“You see how our team is constructed, you need somebody to bench to handle the rock, and it’s good,”
he said.
“D-White comes out, I come in and there’s always somebody that can bring it up, get us into the flow, stuff like that. So just makes the most sense for our team.”
Replacing Simons’ Scoring and Leadership from the Bench
As Boston’s top scoring option off the bench, Anfernee Simons left a significant void when traded. Pritchard is expected not only to fill that offensive gap but also to lead the second unit’s playmaking duties.
