Shaedon Sharpe Out 4-6 Weeks with Fibula Injury

Shaedon Sharpe, the Portland Trail Blazers’ starting shooting guard, has been diagnosed with a stress reaction in his left fibula, sidelining him for an estimated four to six weeks, the team announced Tuesday. This injury puts his availability for the remainder of the 2025-26 NBA season in question, with Portland’s regular-season finale scheduled for April 12 against the Sacramento Kings.

Details on Sharpe’s Injury and Recovery Timeline

Sharpe last appeared in a game on February 6 before missing time due to a left calf strain. While undergoing treatment for that issue, the team conducted follow-up imaging that detected the fibula stress reaction. The Trail Blazers’ official statement noted that this timeframe will

allow for adequate healing before beginning a progressive return to full basketball activity,

indicating a cautious approach to his rehabilitation.

Sharpe’s Contribution to the Trail Blazers This Season

The 22-year-old earned the starting shooting guard role during training camp and became a regular contributor for nearly four months. Sharpe played in 48 of the team’s first 52 games, starting 42 times. He ranks second on the roster in scoring, averaging a career-high 21.4 points per game, alongside 4.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per contest. In October, Sharpe secured a four-year, $90 million contract extension that could keep him with Portland through the 2029-30 season.

Impact on Portland’s Playoff Aspirations Amid Ongoing Injury Challenges

Sharpe’s injury adds to a season already plagued by numerous absences, as the Trail Blazers have contended with a significant number of injuries and illnesses. Before their upcoming game against the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Moda Center, fourteen players have missed a total of 271 games. This mounting adversity complicates Portland’s effort to secure a spot in the NBA play-in tournament.

With 24 games remaining, the Blazers hold a 28-30 record, positioned ninth in the Western Conference. They trail the eighth-place Golden State Warriors (30-27) by two and a half games but maintain a half-game lead over the tenth-place Los Angeles Clippers (27-30), making each upcoming contest critical for postseason hopes.
