Maxx Crosby Trade Imminent? Insider Says Raiders Star’s Exit Near

FOX NFL insider Jay Glazer indicated that Maxx Crosby has likely played his final game for the Las Vegas Raiders, suggesting the star edge defender’s departure is imminent. During a Wednesday segment on Yahoo Sports Daily, Glazer expressed certainty that Crosby’s tenure with the Raiders is over and noted that the push for a trade would probably come from Crosby himself rather than the team.

Potential Trade Value Linked to Parsons Deal

Glazer estimated that if the Raiders do trade Crosby, they could receive a return greater than the package received in the recent Micah Parsons trade. Parsons was moved last August by the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and first-round draft picks in both 2026 and 2027. Parsons also secured a four-year contract extension, making him the top-paid non-quarterback in the NFL.

Contract Details and Recent Performance

Crosby remains under contract with the Raiders through the 2029 season; however, only his 2026 and 2027 salaries are guaranteed, with $30 million guaranteed in 2026 and an additional $29 million guaranteed starting in March 2027, according to Spotrac. Last season, Crosby earned his fifth straight Pro Bowl appearance after recording 10 sacks and 28 tackles for loss over 15 games. His defensive impact extended to 20 quarterback hits, six passes defensed, two forced fumbles, and an interception.

Injuries and Season-Ending Sit-Out

Despite missing two games, Crosby played 935 snaps, ranking second among all edge defenders for playing time. Throughout 2025, trade rumors circulated, intensifying after a disagreement between Crosby and the Raiders over playing time late in the season. This culminated with the Raiders placing Crosby on injured reserve due to a lingering knee injury and sidelining him for the final two games. Former Raiders head coach Pete Carroll confirmed Crosby left the team facility once he was informed he would not play those matches.

Franchise’s Crossroads: Rebuild or Contend?

The Raiders finished the 2025 season with a 3-14 record, earning the top pick in the upcoming NFL draft. The team now faces an important decision about its direction—whether to focus on a short-term competitive push or to begin rebuilding. Trading Crosby before his 29th season could enable the Raiders to acquire significant draft capital to support a rebuild. Crosby’s injury history, including a season-ending ankle injury in 2024, adds complexity to the decision despite his continued effectiveness as a pass rusher.

Outlook for Interested Teams

If the Raiders set the Parsons trade as a benchmark, teams interested in Crosby may need to be prepared to offer multiple first-round draft picks to enhance their pass-rushing capabilities for the 2026 season. Crosby’s combination of proven performance and remaining contract guarantees makes him an attractive, yet costly, acquisition. How this situation unfolds could influence the Raiders’ rebuilding timeline and the strategies of potential buyers looking to strengthen their defensive front.
