SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Milton Williams and his New England Patriots teammates are aware of the skepticism surrounding their chances in the upcoming Super Bowl. As they scroll through their phones, they frequently encounter predictions that do not favor them, making it clear that doubt is widespread.
Despite being considered 4.5-point underdogs against the Seattle Seahawks, Williams emphasizes that these opinions do not shake the team’s focus or resolve. He notes,
“It’s hard not to. Any time you open your phone, you see something new.”
Their motivation remains strong as they prepare to compete for the Lombardi Trophy.
Patriots’ Response to Harsh Predictions
Williams acknowledges the criticism but refuses to let it influence the team’s mindset.
“Everybody gonna say what they want to say, man. They gonna pick who they gonna pick. People don’t like the Patriots. I was one of them. But I’m here now,”
he said. He stresses that external opinions don’t change their approach to the game.
It really don’t matter who they pick, who they like. We’ve got to go out there and play. And, you know, we go out there and win the game, we’ll see how much they got to say.
Adding to the atmosphere of doubt, Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II, whose team was bested by the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game, predicted a decisive Seahawks victory. When asked about his score prediction, Surtain said,
“35-7 Seattle.”
His bold forecast highlights the challenge the Patriots face as underdogs.
Confidence in Their Play and Performance
Regardless of naysayers, Williams stresses that the Patriots have proven their worth through consistent, dominant performances during the playoffs.
“I feel like we’ve shown enough,”
he said. He suggests that it’s acceptable for skeptics to remain unconvinced, but those doubts do not interfere with the team’s focus and effort.
They can ignore it as long as they want to, but we’re gonna keep doing what we do every time we step on the field.
He also added,
That’s never gonna change, though, what somebody thinks or what somebody got to say about our team. We’re going out there and we’re trying to dominate. I feel like we’ve been doing that all throughout this whole playoffs.
What Lies Ahead for the Patriots
As the Patriots prepare to take the field against the Seahawks, their focus remains on their own execution rather than the opinions of others. The tension and anticipation leading up to the Super Bowl underscore the high stakes, but Milton Williams and his teammates appear determined to let their performance speak for itself. The Patriots’ ability to overcome doubt and prove their critics wrong could define their legacy and shape the narrative of the championship game.
