Rams’ Rob Havenstein Retires After 11 Impactful NFL Seasons

Rob Havenstein, the Los Angeles Rams offensive tackle, officially announced his retirement from the NFL on Tuesday, concluding an 11-season career marked by dedication and success. Havenstein’s retirement comes after playing a crucial role in the Rams’ offensive line since 2015, the final year the franchise was based in St. Louis.

A Career Highlighted by Consistency and Achievement

Throughout his career, Havenstein started all 148 regular-season games and 13 playoff contests he participated in, demonstrating remarkable durability and commitment. At age 33, he reflected on his journey with pride and gratitude.

“I can look back on my career and smile knowing I have given everything I had and more to the game I love. In saying that, I am officially retiring from the NFL.”

– Rob Havenstein

Havenstein’s tenure included a Super Bowl victory in the 2021 season, when the Rams secured the championship in Super Bowl LVI, as well as the team’s appearance in Super Bowl LIII three years earlier, which ended in a narrow loss to the New England Patriots. Over the years, he became a core component of the Rams’ offensive strategy, often playing nearly every offensive snap during multiple seasons.

Overcoming Challenges in Final Season

This season, injuries limited Havenstein’s on-field contributions; knee and ankle bursitis restricted him to just seven regular-season starts. After being placed on injured reserve in November, he was activated for practice before the NFC Championship in late January but did not participate in the game, which saw the Rams narrowly lose to the Seattle Seahawks.

Appreciation for Support and Legacy

Havenstein expressed heartfelt thanks to those who supported him throughout his career.

“I have had the time of my life with the Los Angeles Rams (formerly known as the St. Louis Rams) and can’t thank the whole organization enough for giving me a shot back in 2015, although some in the organization weren’t totally convinced.”

– Rob Havenstein

He also acknowledged the impact of his wife, parents, teammates, coaches, and fans in shaping his journey, emphasizing the collective effort behind his achievements.

Looking Ahead Beyond Football

Closing this chapter, Havenstein expressed optimism about what the future holds.

“As this chapter ends, I couldn’t be more grateful, hopeful, and excited to see what comes next!”

– Rob Havenstein

His retirement marks the end of a notable era for the Rams’ offensive line but also sets the stage for new opportunities and endeavors beyond the football field.
