New England Patriots Secure Alijah Vera-Tucker in $48M Deal

On March 10, the New England Patriots finalized a three-year contract with former New York Jets offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker, valued at up to $48 million. This move aims to strengthen the Patriots’ offensive line as they prepare for upcoming seasons.

Vera-Tucker’s Career and Injury History

Alijah Vera-Tucker, standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 308 pounds, played five seasons with the Jets, appearing in 43 games, with starts at both guard and tackle positions. He started 15 games in 2024 but missed the entire 2025 season due to a torn triceps. Throughout his career, Vera-Tucker has faced challenges, including Achilles and triceps injuries that limited him to 12 games across 2022 and 2023.

Expected Role in the Patriots’ Offensive Line

The Patriots plan to position Vera-Tucker at left guard alongside left tackle Will Campbell. Other starters likely include right guard Mike Onwenu and right tackle Morgan Moses, forming a revamped offensive front. Recently, the Patriots traded center Garrett Bradbury to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round draft pick.

Impact of Bradbury’s Trade on Team Lineup

Bradbury’s departure clears the way for Jared Wilson, the Patriots’ left guard starter in the previous season, to potentially move to center. This adjustment reflects ongoing shifts in the Patriots’ offensive line as they adapt their roster ahead of future campaigns.
