Nashville Predators Recall Top Prospects L’Heureux, Wood

The Nashville Predators have recalled forwards Zachary L’Heureux and Matthew Wood from their AHL team, the Milwaukee Admirals, as the NHL regular season prepares to resume following the Olympic break. This move expands head coach Andrew Brunette’s roster options in time for Thursday’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Profiles of the Recently Recalled Players

Zachary L’Heureux, a late first-round selection in the 2021 NHL draft, has been performing strongly in the AHL during the 2025-26 season. He has scored 14 goals and tallied 28 points across 28 games, marking a significant shift from last season when he spent most of his time in the NHL. Known for his hardworking and assertive playing style, L’Heureux is expected to slot into a bottom-six forward role with the Predators, aiming to secure a consistent place on the NHL roster after this recall offers him a chance to debut this season in Nashville.

Matthew Wood, drafted in the first round in 2023, is at the beginning of his professional career. The 6’4″ winger impressed during the Olympic break, scoring three points in three AHL games, all against tough competition except in one match. Wood showed early promise in the NHL with 10 points in his first 11 games, including an impressive first career hat trick, but his production has since slowed, with just 17 points over 46 games this season and limited ice time in January.

Outlook for the Predators as Season Moves Forward

With the team competing for a playoff spot in the Western Conference, Nashville is looking to regain momentum as the season progresses. The recalls of L’Heureux and Wood signal a strategic approach to bolster depth and spark offensive contributions. Wood’s recent performances during the break hint at potential improvements, and L’Heureux’s aggressive style could add valuable energy to the lineup. Both players will have the opportunity to prove themselves and help the Predators push for a postseason return.

“We’re excited to see what L’Heureux and Wood can bring to our team as we head into a critical stretch.” ?Andrew Brunette, Head Coach
