Stella Nyamekye Joins SK Brann, Eyes Bright Future

Stella Nyamekye, the 20-year-old Ghanaian midfielder, has officially joined Norwegian club SK Brann after completing her transfer from Gotham FC in the United States. The Black Queens player expressed her confidence in Brann’s long-term plan and the chance to continue improving her game in Norway.

Reasons Behind Nyamekye’s Transfer to Norway

Nyamekye emphasized her belief in SK Brann’s vision, sharing that the club’s project aligns well with her development goals.

“I chose Brann because I believe in the project, and it will give me the best opportunity for my development and playing experience,”

she said. She highlighted that the team is competitive and aiming for multiple titles.

While previously contracted with Gotham FC in the National Women’s Soccer League, Nyamekye spent much of last season on loan at Fort Lauderdale United, where she appeared in 14 matches, scoring one goal and assisting twice. Her return to top-flight football marks an important step forward in her career.

Nyamekye’s Playing Style and Achievements

Describing her skill set, Nyamekye commented,

“I am a player with good overview, good ball control, and I am creative in the final third. I can also contribute by both scoring goals myself and setting up chances for my teammates.”

Her impressive goal-scoring record began at Dreamz Ladies in Ghana, where she netted 31 goals in 41 appearances. She also boasts international experience, with two goals in three matches for Ghana’s U20 team and six caps, including one goal, for the senior Black Queens.

SK Brann’s sporting director Lars Johan Myklebust expressed strong confidence in Nyamekye’s abilities and potential.

“Stella is a player we have great faith in. She has good ball control and is strong one-on-one, and we believe she will fit well into the way we want to play. We are bringing in an ambitious player with great development potential, and we are looking forward to getting her in place,”

Nyamekye is set to join SK Brann’s squad in Bergen after fulfilling her duties with Ghana at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco. Her arrival is anticipated to bolster the team as they pursue success in the Norwegian league and other competitions.
