Israel Adesanya Picks Side for Alex Pereira vs Ciryl Gane Fight

Israel Adesanya has declared his support for Alex Pereira ahead of the UFC White House event scheduled for June 14. The show, announced by UFC President Dana White, will feature Pereira facing Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight championship in the co-main event. Adesanya, a former two-time UFC middleweight champion, expressed his hopes for Pereira to secure a historic third title across different weight classes.

Adesanya’s Take on the UFC White House Fight Card

Reacting on his YouTube channel, Adesanya described the UFC White House card as “a good card” and “stacked” with top-tier fights. He is particularly focused on Pereira’s pursuit of making UFC history by becoming the first fighter to capture belts in three different divisions. Adesanya acknowledged Gane’s skill set, praising his movement and striking power, but remains confident in Pereira’s knockout potential.

A good card. It’s f—ing sick. Stacked, as it should be,

Adesanya stated.

But I think Alex can knock him out, too.

While recognizing the challenge Gane poses as “slick” and capable of controlling the fight, Adesanya emphasized Pereira’s established record against him from their kickboxing and MMA encounters.

Dana White Clarifies UFC White House Fight Lineup Changes

The UFC White House lineup underwent a notable change shortly before being finalized when a rumored fight between Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria was removed. Dana White addressed the situation during separate press conferences, denying the claim that Makhachev vs. Topuria was ever scheduled for the card. He attributed the adjustments to unforeseen circumstances involving other fighters and last-minute reshuffling.

It was never Islam vs Topuria… Don’t worry about what fights are being made. We announce which ones are made and which ones will be happening.

White explained that the fallout originated during the Power Slap event, leading to extended discussions into the early morning hours. This session resulted in adding Justin Gaethje to the card and calling in Ilia Topuria, even though Topuria was not originally planned to fight on this show.

And that’s how Gaethje ended up on the card. And Topuria wasn’t originally supposed to be on the card either, so he got the call too.

Looking Ahead to UFC White House and Its Impact

With the co-main event featuring Pereira versus Gane now taking center stage, and the fight card praised for its depth, the UFC White House event promises to deliver critical moments that could reshape UFC history. Adesanya’s support for Pereira adds a personal stake due to their shared history across combat sports disciplines. Meanwhile, White’s management of the fight lineup underscores the unpredictable nature of fight scheduling at the highest level. Fans will closely watch how these matchups influence contenders’ standings and championship opportunities moving forward.
