The St. Louis Battlehawks made an unexpected decision on Saturday by releasing quarterback Michael Pratt, as reported on the UFL Transactions page. Pratt, a 24-year-old Miami, Florida native, was a recent acquisition through the 2026 UFL Quarterback Draft.
Pratt’s Career Path from College to Professional Football
Michael Pratt, standing six-foot-two and weighing 217 pounds, played four seasons at Tulane from 2020 to 2023. During his collegiate career, he completed 703 of 1,170 passes for 9,286 yards and 88 touchdowns, alongside 438 carries yielding 1,163 rushing yards and 27 rushing touchdowns. His performance earned him several honors, including First Team All-AAC and AAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2023, as well as AAC Championship Game MVP the same year.
Pratt was selected in the seventh round (245th overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. In his three preseason games in 2024, he completed 23 of 35 pass attempts for 178 yards, with one touchdown and one interception, and added six rushing yards on two carries. The Packers released him in late August 2024.
Brief Stints with Buccaneers and Transition to UFL
Following his release from Green Bay, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Pratt to their practice squad in August 2024. He re-signed with the Buccaneers in January 2025 but was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform List before being released in August 2025. Shortly after, Pratt joined the St. Louis Battlehawks but was released less than a year later.
Implications for Battlehawks and Pratt’s Future
The release of Michael Pratt leaves the St. Louis Battlehawks without this promising quarterback fresh from the NCAA and NFL systems. As they continue to refine their roster, the Battlehawks will likely explore other options to strengthen their quarterback position. For Pratt, this move signals a challenging crossroads in his professional career as he seeks new opportunities to showcase his talent.
