Alexander Vesia was born on April 11, 1996, in Alpine, California, to parents Bob and Cindy. He attended Steele Canyon High School in Spring Valley, California, where he played baseball. In his senior year of 2014, Vesia earned All-East County honors, showcasing his talent early on. Undrafted in the 2014 Major League Baseball draft, he continued his education and baseball career at California State University, East Bay.

At California State University, East Bay, Vesia had a remarkable college career. In his freshman season in 2015, he started 12 games, achieving a 5–4 record with a 2.18 earned run average (ERA) over 74+1⁄3 innings, which earned him California Collegiate Athletic Association Freshman of the Year honors. His sophomore year saw him make 15 starts with a 7–5 record and a 3.30 ERA, striking out 64 batters in 95+1⁄3 innings. Vesia continued to develop his skills, culminating in a senior season in 2018 where he pitched in 14 games, going 8–2 with a 1.94 ERA and earning All-CCAA First Team honors. Following this successful season, he was selected by the Miami Marlins in the 17th round of the 2018 MLB draft.

Vesia signed with the Miami Marlins and made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast League Marlins, later earning a promotion to the Batavia Muckdogs. Over 33+1⁄3 relief innings pitched with the two clubs, he went 4–0 with a 1.35 ERA and 38 strikeouts. In 2020, he made the Marlins’ Opening Day roster and debuted on July 25 against the Philadelphia Phillies. Unfortunately, he was placed on the injured list shortly after and ended the season with a total of 4+1⁄3 innings pitched.

Breakthrough (2021–Present)

On February 12, 2021, Vesia was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He quickly made an impact, recording his first career MLB win on July 31, 2021, against the Arizona Diamondbacks. By the end of the 2021 season, he had pitched a total of forty innings over 41 games, achieving a 3-1 record and a 3.86 ERA. Vesia’s performance in the postseason was notable, as he pitched in two games of the 2021 National League Division Series and five of the six games of the National League Championship Series, allowing only one run in 4+1⁄3 innings.
