Austin Schlottmann was born on September 18, 1995, in Brenham, Texas. He grew up in this small town, where he became a standout football player at Brenham High School. Schlottmann earned All-State honors in 2013, contributing significantly to his high school team, the Brenham Cubs, as they reached the Class 4A Championship game at AT&T Stadium. His performance on the field garnered attention, and he was recognized as a 3-star offensive tackle recruit. On February 5, 2014, he signed a national letter of intent to play college football at Texas Christian University, turning down offers from several other schools. Schlottmann enrolled at Texas Christian University in the summer of 2014. He made an immediate impact, playing in all 13 games during his freshman year. The team had a successful season, winning the Big 12 Conference championship and finishing third in the final polls after a dominant victory over Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl. Over his college career, he played in 51 games, starting 29 of them, which included 19 at center and 10 at right guard.
