Bucky Irving was born in Chicago, Illinois, and attended Hillcrest High School in Country Club Hills, Illinois. He did not play football during his senior year in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but he finished his high school career with an impressive total of 3,264 rushing yards. Following high school, he committed to the University of Minnesota to pursue his college football career.
