Early Life and Background

Keshawn Banks was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he began his athletic journey. He attended Rio Rancho High School, where he excelled in football, basketball, and track. During his time in high school, he earned three varsity letters in football and played a pivotal role in leading his team to an undefeated 13–0 record and a state championship in 2016. His impressive performance on the field earned him numerous accolades, including all-district, all-metro, and all-state honors, as well as being named the metro defensive player of the year. Banks totaled 133 tackles, 18 sacks, eight pass deflections, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries throughout his high school career. A three-star recruit, he committed to play college football for the San Diego State Aztecs.

Path to American Football

At San Diego State University, Keshawn Banks made an immediate impact as a true freshman, participating in 12 games and recording seven tackles. He became a starter in 2019, where he was recognized as a second-team All-Mountain West Conference (MWC) player after totaling 43 tackles, 13.5 tackles-for-loss, and 4.5 sacks. In 2020, he started seven games and garnered 14 tackles, earning honorable mention All-MWC honors. In 2021, he was named second-team all-conference for the second time, recording 35 tackles, 11 tackles-for-loss, 15 quarterback hurries, and five sacks. In his final season in 2022, he was again honored as an honorable mention all-conference player, making 40 tackles, 11.5 tackles-for-loss, and 3.5 sacks. Banks concluded his collegiate career having started his final 47 games, placing sixth in school history with 42 tackles-for-loss and accumulating a total of 137 tackles.

Early Career (2023)

After going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, Keshawn Banks was signed by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent. During the preseason, he showcased his potential with five tackles and two quarterback pressures. However, he was released during the final roster cuts and subsequently re-signed to the practice squad. Although he did not appear in any regular season games initially, he was elevated to the active roster for the team’s divisional round playoff game, making his debut against the San Francisco 49ers. In that game, he participated in nine special teams snaps and two defensive snaps.

Breakthrough (2024)

On January 22, 2024, Keshawn Banks signed a reserve/future contract with the Green Bay Packers but was released on August 27. Shortly thereafter, on October 23, 2024, he signed with the New England Patriots practice squad. He made appearances in three games for the Patriots before being released on December 10, 2024.
