Nesta Jade Silvera grew up in Pembroke Pines, Florida. He attended American Heritage School, where he played a crucial role in helping the team win back-to-back state championships and compile an impressive 27-game winning streak. Silvera was recognized as a consensus four-star recruit and recorded 79 tackles, 25 tackles-for-loss, and 12 sacks during his senior year, earning the title of Florida High School Defensive Player of the Year from USA Today. He was also selected to participate in the 2018 U.S. Army All-American Bowl and was ranked as the 54th-best prospect nationally by 247Sports. Silvera committed to play college football for the Miami Hurricanes, turning down various other offers. He is of Panamanian and Jamaican descent.

Path to American Football

Silvera’s college career began at the University of Miami, where he made an immediate impact. In his freshman season, he appeared in 10 games, accumulating 13 tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss, and blocking a punt. Although he faced an injury that sidelined him for the first four games of the 2019 season, he returned to finish the year with 19 tackles and one sack. By 2020, Silvera had become a starter, playing in 11 games and recording 35 tackles and 8.0 tackles-for-loss, earning honorable mention all-conference recognition. He continued to excel in 2021, tallying 38 tackles and 8.5 tackles-for-loss. After his time at Miami, Silvera transferred to Arizona State University for the 2022 season, where he started 10 of the 12 games he played, making 56 tackles and 4.5 tackles-for-loss. His performance earned him an invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine, where he was the only player from Arizona State selected.

Nesta Jade Silvera was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, being the 231st overall pick. He made his NFL debut in Week 4 of his rookie season, where he recorded one tackle. However, his time with the Raiders was short-lived, as he was released on December 20, 2023, but was re-signed to the practice squad two days later. He signed a reserve/future contract on January 8, 2024.
