Early Life and Background

Nick Seeler was born on June 3, 1993, in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA. He grew up in a supportive family, with his father, Dan Seeler, and mother, Kris Seeler, encouraging his athletic pursuits. Seeler attended Eden Prairie High School, where he played on both the junior varsity hockey team and the school golf team. Although he faced limited playing time early in his high school career due to his height, a growth spurt in his junior year allowed him to develop his skills and gain recognition as a player. He earned honors such as First-Team All-State selection and All-Metro First Team choice during his high school career.

Path to Hockey

During his senior year at Eden Prairie High School, Nick Seeler committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for the University of Nebraska Omaha. He was drafted 131st overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Minnesota Wild. Following the draft, Seeler played with the Muskegon Lumberjacks and the Des Moines Buccaneers in the United States Hockey League for the 2011–12 season, where he was named to the USHL All-Rookie Team. Seeler believed that playing in the USHL would best prepare him for the transition to collegiate hockey. After two seasons at the University of Nebraska Omaha, he transferred to the University of Minnesota in 2014, where he had to sit out the 2014–15 season due to NCAA transfer rules. He played one season for the University of Minnesota before signing an entry-level contract with the Minnesota Wild and joining their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Iowa Wild, for the 2016–17 AHL season.

Early Career (2016–2018)

Nick Seeler began his professional career in 2016 after signing with the Minnesota Wild. He attended the Wild’s training camp in 2017 and was reassigned to the AHL to start the 2017–18 season. Seeler scored his first AHL goal on January 7, 2018, against the Cleveland Monsters. He was called up to the NHL from the Iowa Wild on February 11, 2018, and made his NHL debut the following day against the New York Rangers. Seeler recorded his first NHL point on February 22, 2018, assisting on a goal by Chris Stewart in a game against the New Jersey Devils.

Breakthrough (2018–2020)

Seeler’s breakthrough in the NHL came during the 2018 season when he made his playoff debut in the Stanley Cup playoffs against the Winnipeg Jets. He recorded two points in five games as the Wild lost in five games to the Jets. On July 1, 2018, Seeler signed a three-year, $2.175 million contract with the Wild. He scored his first NHL goal on November 3, 2019, in a game against the St. Louis Blues after going pointless in his first 12 NHL games that season.
