Early Life and Background

Riley Minix grew up in Vero Beach, Florida, where he attended Vero Beach High School. During his time in high school, he experienced a significant growth spurt before his senior season, which contributed to his breakout performance. He averaged 17.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, showcasing his potential as a basketball player. His early exposure to the sport laid the foundation for his future career in basketball.

Path to Basketball

After completing high school, Riley Minix committed to play basketball at Southeastern University, an NAIA school. In his freshman year, he made an immediate impact by being named the first-team All-Sun Conference and the conference freshman of the year. However, his sophomore season was cut short due to an upper-body injury. Early Career (2019–2024)

Riley Minix’s professional career began after he went undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft. He joined the San Antonio Spurs for the NBA Summer League and signed with the team on July 20, 2024. Minix signed a two-way contract with the Spurs on October 19, 2024, which allowed him to split time between the NBA and the NBA G League. During his rookie season, he played in only one game for the Spurs, recording two rebounds in a loss against the Houston Rockets.

Breakthrough (2024–2025)

In the 2024–25 season, Riley Minix spent the first half of the season with the Austin Spurs, the G League affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs. He quickly became a key player for the team, averaging 20.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game during the Tip-Off Tournament. Minix scored in double figures in all 16 games of the tournament, demonstrating his scoring ability and consistency. However, he faced a setback when he underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder, which sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
