Tony Stewart’s NASCAR Return Sparks Ram Truck Series Comeback

Tony Stewart, 54, is set to make his return to NASCAR competition for the first time since 2005 by racing in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series event, the Fresh from Florida 250, scheduled for Friday night at Daytona International Speedway. This marks Stewart’s first national series start since the 2016 NASCAR Cup season finale held at Homestead-Miami Speedway, reigniting excitement around his comeback in the sport.

Kaulig Racing and Ram Truck’s Bold New Entry

Stewart will pilot the No. 25 Ram truck for Kaulig Racing as the manufacturer launches its first NASCAR campaign since 2012. The team plans to field five Ram trucks, introducing fresh talent alongside Stewart. Drivers joining him include Justin Haley, Daniel Dye, Brenden Queen, and Mini Tyrrell, who earned his ride through Kaulig’s Race for the Seat competition, signaling a strong lineup poised for the upcoming season.

Stewart Embraces New Team and Brand Partnership

Speaking at Daytona, Stewart expressed enthusiasm about working with a new team and representing Ram and parent company Stellantis in one of NASCAR’s premier events.

“…It’s fun to do it with a group I’ve never worked with before. It’s fun to do it with a brand I’m passionate about at a track that we’ve had some success at. All in all, it’s nice to be back.”

Shifting Dynamics in the Truck Series Championship

The departure of last year’s champion, Corey Heim, from the No. 11 TRICON Garage Toyota has created an intense competition for the top spot. Heim dominated the 2025 season, winning a record 12 of 25 races. His successor, Kaden Honeycutt, along with drivers Layne Riggs, Chandler Smith of Front Row Motorsports, and Stewart’s Kaulig teammates, are all eager to fill the vacuum left by Heim’s exit.

Renewed Energy and Stakes for the Season Ahead

Tony Stewart’s return not only marks a significant moment for the driver inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame but also highlights Ram’s ambitious reentry into the Truck Series under Kaulig Racing’s banner. With accomplished drivers and competitive teams ready at Daytona, this season could redefine the series’ landscape, setting up an exciting contest for fans and competitors alike.
